ISLAMABAD (AA) - At least 11 people, including three women, were killed and several others injured in a gun attack on passenger vans in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan on Thursday, according to police.
Gunmen fired on a convoy of passengers in the Lower Kurram area, killing at least 11 passengers and injuring many others, Afzal Khan, a local police officer, told Anadolu over the phone.
The death toll is subject to change as communication with officers on the ground was not clear, the police officer added.
In September, at least 46 people were killed in the tribal clashes in the Kurram district near the Afghan border. However, tribal elders later resolved the conflict and announced a cease-fire.
The latest attack came after the local tribes blocked the roads in the area for over two weeks earlier this month, and the local administration later opened the road and restored the traffic in the area.
