GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) - At least 11 Palestinians were killed and others were injured on Wednesday evening in Israeli airstrikes targeting two civilian vehicles in Khan Younis and a home in Jabalia, in the southern and northern parts of the Gaza Strip.
According to a statement from Palestinian Civil Defense, “Five Palestinians were killed and others were injured in an Israeli airstrike on a home in Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip.”
The Israeli army launched a new onslaught in northern Gaza on Sunday, claiming that the military operation aims to prevent Hamas from regaining strength in the area.
As part of the offensive, the Israeli army ordered Palestinian residents in Jabalia, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia to leave their homes and head south.
As of Wednesday evening, these attacks have resulted in the deaths of 125 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Media Office.
Some bodies remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed homes or in the streets, as rescue teams are unable to retrieve them due to Israeli strikes targeting rescue workers.
In a separate incident, a medical source who asked to speak on the condition of anonymity told Anadolu that six Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on two civilian vehicles near the Bani Suhaila roundabout, east of the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
In recent days, the Israeli army has intensified its bombardment of southern and central Gaza with warplanes and artillery, resulting in dozens of casualties.
Flouting a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire, Israel has continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas just over a year ago.
More than 42,000 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 97,700 others injured, according to local health authorities.
The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the Gaza Strip amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
