26 others also injured as warplanes carry out series of air raids

ISTANBUL (AA) - Israeli airstrikes on Friday in Baalbek, eastern Lebanon killed at least 13 people and injured 26 others, state news agency NNA and the Health Ministry reported.

Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on towns of Baalbek district in the Baalbek-Hermel Governorate.

As many as eleven people were killed in an airstrike on a residential building in the town of Amhaz. Two others were killed in an airstrike in the city's outskirts.

In the past two days, the Israeli army issued warnings to residents in Baalbek, which was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984, to leave.

Israel launched in September a massive air campaign in Lebanon against what it claims are Hezbollah targets, an escalation in year-long cross-border warfare with the group triggered by the war in Gaza.
