ANKARA (AA) – Fifteen suspected PKK terrorists were killed in an air-backed operation in southeastern Turkey on Sunday, according to a military statement.
The Turkish Armed Forces said 15 PKK terrorists were “neutralized” and others wounded in the operation in Sirnak province.
During the operation, PKK shelters and gun emplacements were also destroyed, the statement added.
The PKK -- also listed as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year.
Since then, more than 700 security force members have been martyred and around 8,000 PKK terrorists killed or apprehended.
