ABUJA, Nigeria (AA) - Eighteen people died in clashes between two ethnic groups in Edo State, according to reports Sunday.
A police official said two policemen were among the dead in violence between the groups in the provincial capital of Benin.
Several people were injured in the shooting, he said, and several houses were burned.
Security forces were sent to the area and events have since come under control.
Occasional violence occurs in Edo State because of the inability to share natural resources between different groups.
