NAIROBI, Kenya (AA) - At least 19 people, including nine women and a child, were killed when a Kenyan administration’s police vehicle met an accident in western Kenya’s town of Baringo, a police official said.
The incident took place when the vehicle, ferrying police personnel and civilians, swerved off the road while trying to avoid goats on Mariagat-Loruk Road, local media quoted witnesses as saying.
Robinson Ndiwa, Baringo police chief, confirmed the incident, saying the lorry was coming from Marigat town, where the police officers had gone for shopping, and was heading to Kapedo town.
“20 more people who got injured in the incident have been admitted to Maigat Sub-county hospital,” Ndiwa said.
