ANKARA (AA) - Spanish football club Atletico Madrid said on Thursday that two of its players, Diego Costa and Santiago Arias, contracted the novel coronavirus.
"Diego Costa and Santiago Arias, who tested positive during their holidays, are currently isolating and show no symptoms," Atletico Madrid said in a statement.
It stated that the senior team joined Thursday's pre-season tests except Costa and Arias.
The infected players are now staying at home.
Both Costa and Arias are expected to go on training after their quarantine ends.
Brazilian-born Spanish forward Costa, 31, previously played for English Premier League club Chelsea.
Costa scored 5 goals and had 5 assists in 30 appearances in the 2019-20 season.
Last season, Colombian right back Arias, 28, played in 18 matches for the Madrid team.
Arias joined Atletico Madrid from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven in 2018.
