SANAA, Yemen (AA) – Two foreigners working for aid group Doctors Without Borders (MSF) were kidnapped in central Yemen on Monday, according to a government source.

The MSF workers are from Germany and Myanmar and were abducted in Marib province, the source told Anadolu on condition of anonymity.

MSF, for its part, said it had lost contact with two of its employees in Yemen.

The aid group, however, said it will not share further information out of concern for the workers' safety.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for their kidnapping.

In March 2022, MSF announced the kidnap of two staffers by tribesmen in eastern Yemen before they were released six months later.

Yemen has been engulfed by violence and instability since 2014, when Iranian-aligned Houthi rebels captured much of the country, including the capital, Sanaa.
