ISTANBUL (AA) - Two forest fires in western and northwestern Türkiye have been brought under control, the country's agriculture and forestry minister said on Wednesday.
"Our fight against forest fires continues uninterruptedly," Ibrahim Yumakli said on X in an announcement on the state of several wildfires that had broken out in the country.
He confirmed that fires in the coastal Narlidere district of Izmir province and of Pendik district in Istanbul province had been brought under control.
Efforts continue to douse flames in the Eceabat district of northwestern Canakkale province, Milas district of southwestern Mugla, and Dikmen district of northern Sinop, according to Yumakli's post.
A total of 615 firefighting personnel were using 19 planes, 13 helicopters, and 104 water tankers and construction machinery, he said in the post, which included footage of efforts to put out the wildfires.
