JERUSALEM (AA) – Two Israeli border police officers were injured in a stabbing attack in occupied East Jerusalem on Monday, police said.
A police statement said the suspected attacker was shot dead, while one of the officers was in serious condition due to the attack that took place near Herod’s Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City.
Tensions escalated across the Palestinian territories amid Israeli air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.
More than 11,300 people have been killed in the conflict, including at least 9,770 Palestinians and nearly 1,600 Israelis.
Besides the large number of casualties and massive displacements, basic supplies are running low for Gaza’s 2.3 million residents due to the Israeli siege.
