No Palestinian group has claimed responsibility for attack

JERUSALEM (AA) - Israeli authorities said Thursday that two settlers were killed in an armed attack near the Eli settlement in the central occupied West Bank.

The Israeli ambulance service, Magen David Adom, said the deceased, in their twenties and forties, were declared dead at the scene.

Public broadcaster KAN said the attacker was killed by Israeli fire but did not provide details.

No Palestinian group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Tensions have been high across the West Bank since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip after a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.

Nearly 410 Palestinians from the West Bank have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers since early October, in addition to more than 4,600 injured.

Israel is accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice. An interim ruling in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocidal acts and take measures to guarantee that humanitarian assistance is provided to civilians in Gaza.
