LONDON (AA) – Two men who were found dead in a burned-out rented car in Sweden’s southern Malmo city last month have been identified as missing British businessmen, officials said on Wednesday.

Juan Cifuentes and Farooq Abdulrazak from north London were reported missing by their families in July after failing to return from a business trip to Denmark and Sweden.

Swedish prosecutors have confirmed, almost a month after the men were discovered, that the remains belonged to business partners Cifuentes, 33, and Abdulrazak, 37.

Just hours after the pair went missing firefighters came across a Toyota Rav4 ablaze in an industrial estate in Malmo on July 14.

They had rented the Toyota at Copenhagen's Kastrup airport and were later seen on CCTV making their way over the Oresund Bridge.

According to Swedish media, at least one of the victims had gunshot wounds, and authorities believed they were killed before the car was set on fire.

No one has been arrested over the deaths.
