BEIRUT (AA) - The Hezbollah group on Thursday mourned the deaths of two of its fighters in clashes with Israeli forces in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah identified the slain fighters as Ali Ayoub and Mohammed Fares, saying they “ascended on the road to Jerusalem.”

However, it provided no information about the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

At least 299 Hezbollah fighters have been killed in clashes with Israeli forces since Oct. 8, according to an Anadolu tally.

Earlier in the day, an Israeli drone attacked a car in southern Lebanon, killing two people, the state-run National News Agency reported.

The car was targeted on the road between Ramadiyeh and Qana in Tyre, southern Lebanon, according to the news agency.

There were no details available about the two victims.

Tensions have risen along Lebanon's border with Israel amid cross-border attacks between Hezbollah and Israeli forces as Tel Aviv presses ahead with its deadly offensive on the Gaza Strip, which has killed more than 35,200 people since last October following a Hamas attack.
