GAZA CITY, Palestine (AA) – Two more Palestinian journalists fall victims to intensified attacks by Israeli forces on civilians in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday, bringing the total number of journalists killed since Oct. 7 to 49.
The Gaza-based Government Media Office said in a statement on Tuesday that the latest Palestinian journalist victim was Yahya Abu Mnea, who worked for local Al-Aqsa Radio and was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza city.
However, shortly after the statement, the Palestinian official news agency Wafa announced the death of another journalist, Mohammad Abu Hasira, who was killed along with a number of his family members in an Israeli airstrike on his home in western Gaza.
With new fatalities, the total number of journalists killed in Gaza by intensified airstrikes has risen to 49.
Israel has launched relentless air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by Hamas a month ago.
At least 10,022 Palestinians, including 4,104 children and 2,641 women, have been killed in the Gaza Strip since then. The Israeli death toll, meanwhile, is nearly 1,600, according to official figures.
