TUBAN, Indonesia (AA) - Two Nigerian nationals have been shot dead in Indonesia after police said they tried to attack officers.
Police said that the men had been taken to an apartment in Tangerang just outside of Jakarta where they were suspected of hiding drugs when they had attacked officers with a knife and tried to seize their firearms.
"Two people, because they tried to fight the officers with a knife, were shot and both died," detik.com reported the deputy to the National Narcotics Agency Head for Drug Eradication Affairs, Inspector General Arman Depari, as saying.
He added that the men were suspected drug dealers who were arrested in a house in Tangerang earlier in the day.
Last week, police shot dead a Malaysian citizen -- suspected of being the leader of a transnational drug syndicate -- for resisting arrest.
