RAMALLAH, Palestine (AA) – Two Palestinians on Monday were injured in an Israeli military raid in the occupied West Bank on Monday, according to witnesses.
Israeli forces raided the northern city of Jenin and searched an exchange shop there, witnesses said.
An exchange of fire was heard between Israeli forces and armed Palestinians during the raid.
The official Palestinian news agency Wafa, citing local sources, said Israeli military vehicles deliberately hit several Palestinian cars in the city during the raid, injuring two people.
The local Quds News Network said Palestinian resistance fighters detonated an explosive device at Israeli forces during the raid.
Tensions have been running high across the occupied Palestinian territories amid a deadly Israeli offensive that has killed more than 39,600 people in the Gaza Strip since Oct. 7, 2023.
At least 600 Palestinians have since been killed and nearly 5,400 others injured by Israeli army fire in the occupied West Bank, according to the Health Ministry.
In a landmark opinion on July 19, the International Court of Justice declared Israel's decades-long occupation of Palestinian land "illegal" and demanded the evacuation of all existing settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
