ISTANBUL (AA) - At least two people have been injured as Ukraine claimed on Wednesday that it downed 30 Russian drones during Moscow's overnight attacks on multiple regions of the war-torn country.
Mykola Oleshchuk, the commander of Ukraine’s Air Force, claimed on Telegram that the country’s air defenses downed all 30 attack drones launched by Russia over the Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Cherkasy regions.
Kyiv Governor Ruslan Kravchenko said on Telegram that a person was injured after receiving a shrapnel wound in the leg, noting that the air raid alert in the region lasted more than eight hours.
Elsewhere, Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said on Telegram that an elderly woman was injured and hospitalized after a drone flew into an apartment building in the region’s administrative capital.
Meanwhile, fires broke out in two districts of the Mykolaiv region due to falling debris, where 14 Russian drones were downed by Ukrainian air defenses, Governor Vitaliy Kim also said on Telegram.
Local authorities in Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv, and Cherkasy did not report any casualties or damages in the respective regions.
Russian authorities have not yet commented on Ukraine’s claims.
