Two Spanish climbers climbing Mont Blanc along France's border with Italy fell 350 meters (over 1,148 feet) to their deaths, local media said on Thursday.
Press reports say the incident took place on Wednesday in France’s Haute-Savoie province, where the two climbers, aged 26 and 27, fell during their ascent of Mont Blanc.
After reaching the scene by helicopter, search and rescue teams recovered the bodies of the two climbers, who reportedly fell when they tried to test a rock with their ropes.
Another climber who reportedly survived the accident was hospitalized.
An investigation has been launched into the fatal fall.
