ISTANBUL (AA) - Two Syrian nationals who were reportedly preparing for a PKK terrorist attack in Istanbul were remanded in custody in court on Friday, according to a police source.
Following a tip-off on a PKK suicide or car bomb attack, police counter-terrorism units raided a PKK cell house on Sunday and detained two Syrian members of the PKK, said the source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.
During investigation of the suspects' social media accounts, messages about the planned attack and where to carry it out were reportedly uncovered.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization in Turkey, the U.S., and the EU. It has waged a terror campaign against Turkey for more than 30 years, during which more than 40,000 people have been killed.
