ISTANBUL (AA) - Fourth-seeded Casper Ruud beat world No. 35 Nicolas Jarry in straight sets on Monday to move to the French Open quarterfinals.
Ruud, the 2022 runner-up, won the fourth-round match with sets of 7-6, 7-5 and 7-5 at Court Philippe-Chatrier on the ninth day of the French Open at Roland Garros.
Denmark's Holger Rune, Germany's Alexander Zverev and Argentina's Tomas Martin Etcheverry also advanced to the last eight in men's singles.
In women's singles, Iga Swiatek, who was the 2020 and 2022 winner of Roland Garros, advanced to the next stage when her opponent Lesia Tsurenko from Ukraine stopped playing because of trouble breathing while trailing 5-1 in the first set.
Ons Jabeur, Beatriz Haddad Maia and Coco Gauff also qualified for the next stage after beating their opponents.
