MAIDUGURI, Nigeria (AA) - At least three people have been killed and dozens missing as terrorists opened fire on worshippers in two churches and some communities in Nigeria's northwest Kaduna State, an official said on Sunday.

Samuel Atuwa, Kaduna State commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said the terrorists on motorcycles attacked three communities before the shooting at the churches.

The terrorists stormed three communities in Ungwan Fada, Ungwan Turawa, and Ungwan Makama in the Rubu area, killing three people, he noted.

He identified two of the deceased victims as a community chief and youth leader.

He said the terrorists stormed St Moses Catholic Church and Maranatha Baptist Church at the Kajuru Local Government area of the state.

Dozens of worshippers have been missing since the attack, the official said.

The latest attack came a day after the burial of 40 victims of the June 5 terror attack on a church in the country's southwest Ondo State.
