At least three people were killed and another two were missing in an explosion at a factory in eastern China early Sunday, state media reported.
The incident, the latest in a string of industrial accidents, took place in the city of Nantong in the eastern Jiangsu province, at 2.11 am local time (1800GMT Saturday), Beijing-based Xinhua News reported. Search and rescue efforts are underway.
The explosion – whose nature is as yet unknown – took place in a workshop of the Asia-Pacific Light Alloy (Nantong) Technology Co. in the economic and technological development zone in Hai'an.
This is the third incident In China involving casualties in the last month.
On Jan. 24, at least 39 people were killed in a building fire in the eastern Jiangxi Province.
On Jan 20, over a dozen people were killed when a fire broke out in a school dormitory in the central Henan province.
