ATHENS (AA) – Three members of a Greek rescue team in flood-stricken eastern Libya have died in a traffic accident, the Greek General Staff confirmed late Sunday.
Two other members of the team also went missing when their bus collided with a car carrying a family that was moving in the opposite direction, it noted in a statement on Facebook.
Public broadcaster ERT reported that two health professionals and one member of the Greek special forces are among the dead.
The accident took place while the bus was heading to the eastern city of Derna from Benghazi, it said, adding that a C-130 type military transport aircraft was sent to Libya to provide first aid and transportation of the injured Greeks back to the country.
