AGRI, Turkey (AA) – At least three PKK terrorists have been killed in an ongoing security operation in eastern Turkey, a regional governor’s office said on Saturday.
Clashes occurred Friday between security forces and the terrorist PKK members in Agri province, and three soldiers were injured.
The Agri Governor’s Office said in a statement that operation against the PKK in the province’s Sinek highlands led to a gun battle between security forces and the terrorist group.
The injured soldiers were taken to two different hospitals for treatment.
The extensive security operation in the region remains ongoing.
The PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.
Since then, more than 600 security personnel have been martyred and more than 7,000 PKK terrorists have been killed.
