ANKARA (AA) - Athletic Club, Barcelona and Real Madrid on Wednesday said they have taken legal action against Spanish football league La Liga for its deal with CVC venture capital fund named Impulse Project.
"It is an illegal transaction that causes irreparable damage to the Spanish football sector as a whole and flagrantly violates the most elementary principles of Spanish sports law and the La Liga statutes," they said in a joint statement.
In August, La Liga agreed with the UK-based private investment firm, CVC Capital Partners, to a €2.7 billion (more than $3 billion) deal, with the latter acquiring a 10% stake in the league.
Except the three, 39 La Liga clubs in the first and second divisions supported the proposal for a cash injection.
