ISTANBUL (AA) - Three-time Wimbledon champion Boris Becker confirmed on Thursday that he will be the new coach of Denmark’s top-ranked player Holger Rune.
"I can confirm that I am Holger Rune’s coach. It makes me a little proud that he asked me. The contact has existed for a long time. Now it was a very good fit," Becker said in a podcast on Eurosport Germany.
"My calendar allows it and I have always been interested in Holger because he is on the tennis court with so much commitment and temperament," said the 55-year-old.
Rune, 20, is currently ranked sixth in men's tennis.
Becker previously served as Novak Djokovic's coach for three years, from 2013 to 2016, during which the Serbian superstar bagged six Grand Slam titles.
In December last year, Becker was released from prison in the UK after serving eight months of a 30-month sentence for concealing financial assets and loans.
