GENEVA (AA) – An explosion at a migrant reception center in the central Italian city of Viterbo injured 31 people, said an official statement issued on Saturday.
The explosion caused a partial collapse of the center in San Lorenzo Nuovo town on Friday at 11.45 p.m. local time (2245GMT), the Italian firefighters' department stated on social media platform X.
It also posted a video showing the destruction of the center, where asylum seekers were welcomed.
The probable cause of the incident is a gas leak, according to the firefighters.
Firefighters, 118 rescue, civil protection, police, and the carabinieri force all rushed to the explosion site and rescued people.
