ISTANBUL (AA) - Police in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul apprehended 353 irregular migrants in a series of inspections conducted across 10 districts.
The inspections took place in Uskudar, Kucukcekmece, Beykoz, Sariyer, Bakırkoy, Esenler, Kagithane, Bahcelievler, Umraniye and Gungoren.
They were carried out by the Istanbul Police Department’s Anti-Migrant Trafficking and Border Gates Branch Directorate, Sea Port Branch Office and district police departments.
As part of the operation, 26 tour boats were also thoroughly examined.
During the inspections, the teams checked the documents of 1,433 foreign nationals, leading to the apprehension of 353 individuals found to be irregular migrants.
Following the necessary procedures, the migrants will be handed over to the provincial immigration center.
