LUSAKA, Zambia (AA) - Four presidential candidates successfully filed their nominations Saturday in Botswana ahead of the general election on Oct. 30.

Incumbent Mokgweetsi Eric Masisi is seeking reelection on the ruling Botswana Democratic Party ticket.

Umbrella for Democratic Change's Advocate Duma Boko, Botswana Congress Party's Dumelang Saleshando and Botswana Patriotic Front's Mephato Reatile are vying with Masisi for the country’s top job.

Biggie Butale for the Republican Party did not qualify because he did not have the required number of nominations, 987, as announced by Terrence Rannowane, who is also the country’s chief justice.

The qualifying candidates also took turns answering questions from reporters, detailing their manifestos and development visions for the southern African state after filing the nominations.
