MOSCOW (AA) - Four people were killed and one injured on Friday in a shooting in a Georgian city near the capital Tbilisi, the country's Interior Ministry said.
The ministry said the incident took place in the city of Rustavi, some 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) southeast of Tbilisi, in the city’s Istanbul market.
"G. O., born in 1988, fired several shots at the market. As a result, four people were killed, including the uncle of the accused, who worked at the market. One person was injured – a cousin of the accused," the statement said.
Told about the shooting, law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene and arrested the accused shooter.
The injured person was hospitalized, but the ministry gave no details of his condition or the severity of the wound.
Local media claimed the shots were fired when the accused sought revenge over a personal issue.
A taxi driver who happened to be at the scene of the shooting was among those killed, the Georgian media claimed.
