ANKARA (AA) – Forty-five terrorists were neutralized in security operations across Turkey in one week as part of the fight against the PKK terror group, the Interior Ministry said Monday.
According to the written statement, 41 out of the 45 had been killed during the operations, two were injured, one was captured alive and one other surrendered between Oct. 17 and Oct. 24.
Fifteen shelters used by PKK terrorists were also destroyed, the statement said.
Additionally, Turkish security forces seized explosives, mines, heavy and long-barreled weapons, rocket launchers, mortar ammunition and hundreds of grenades.
A total of 217 people were detained for aiding and abetting the PKK.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July last year. Since then, PKK terrorist attacks martyred more than 700 security personnel and also claimed the lives of many civilians, including women and children, while nearly 8,000 PKK terrorists were killed in army operations.
The statement added that 113 Daesh members had also been detained, 18 of whom were formally arrested, over the same time period. A Daesh member was also "captured dead" by security forces.
