KARACHI, Pakistan (AA) - A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck central Myanmar on Sunday, wreaking another wave of panic on already scared populace, local media reported.
The tremor – the latest in a string of aftershocks after Friday's deadly 7.7 earthquake – struck at about 1.38 pm (0738GMT), the country's Meteorology and Hydrology Department reported.
The epicenter, with a depth of 35 kilometers (21.7 miles), was located about 8 km (4.9 mi) northwest of the town of Patheingyi in Mandalay, the hardest-hit region.
The death toll from Friday's earthquake has already reached 1,700, with 3,400 injured. Some 300 people still remain missing.
