ISTANBUL (AA) – Five children, including a girl, were killed when an unexploded mortar shell detonated in southern Afghanistan on Friday.
Two more children were injured in the explosion in Marja district of Helmand province, the official Bakhtar News Agency reported.
Afghanistan is littered with unexploded ammunition after decades of fighting between US-led forces and the Taliban, with children often being the victims of such explosions.
