BOGOTA, Colombia (AA) - Five migrants were found suffocated to death in a freight train car in Mexico's northern state of Coahuila.
According to local media, five bodies were found in the railroad car, which stopped at Piedras Negras station.
Medical teams announced that the migrants died due to a lack of air.
The victims were three Hondurans, a Mexican and an unidentified individual, according to Mexico’s National Institute of Migration.
The Coahuila Public Safety Secretariat reported that migrants were exposed to temperatures of over 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit) for 12 hours.
An investigation has been launched into the incident.
