TOKYO (AA) - A magnitude 6.3 earthquake has struck eastern and northeastern Japan, although there are no reports of damage or injuries.
Kyodo news agency reported Wednesday that no tsunami warning was issued following the 9.38 p.m. (1238GMT) tremor, which occurred in northern Ibaraki Prefecture in the country's east.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said that the quake originated at a depth of around 10 kilometers (6.2 miles)
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries, said Kyodo.
