SIRNAK/ANKARA (AA) - Six workers were killed when a coal mine collapsed in Turkey's southeastern province of Sirnak on Tuesday.
According to local sources on the scene, two workers were also injured while some workers may still remain trapped in the wreckage.
Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority, AFAD and health teams were dispatched to the area, and work is ongoing to rescue the trapped workers at the accident site.
Turkey's Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources said that the mine site did not have a working license since 2013.
"Work in the area is illegal," the Ministry announced.
