ISTANBUL (AA) — A magnitude 7.6 earthquake struck off the eastern coast of the Mindanao region of the southern Philippines on Saturday, according to US Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake occurred at a depth of 32.8 kilometers (20 miles), at 10.37 p.m. local time (1437GMT), the USGS said.
No information on casualties has yet been reported by authorities.
The USGS, Japan Meteorological Agency, and PHIVOLCS — the Philippines' institute for monitoring and mitigation of volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and tsunamis — have issued separate tsunami warnings for coastal cities in the region
The earthquake came hours after another earthquake of 5.5 magnitude hit off eastern Indonesia.
