ISTANBUL (AA) – Seven people were injured when an apartment building collapsed on Sunday morning in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul, with two people still trapped under the rubble, a local governor said.
Davut Gul said a three-story building collapsed in the Kucukcekmece district.
“Seven people were taken out with injuries. Two more people are trapped under the rubble,” Gul said, adding that rescue efforts are underway.
He added that the two injured people are in serious condition.
The Istanbul Governor’s Office said the structure collapsed at 8:40 a.m. local time (0545GMT). The cause was not immediately known.
The judicial and administrative processes related to the incident are underway.
