ANKARA (AA) - AC Milan beat Atalanta 2-0 at home in a Sunday Italian Serie A match in a huge leap towards the 2022 title for the winning side.
Milan broke the deadlock in the 56th minute as Portuguese forward Rafael Leao scored for the Rossoneri on a counter attack at the San Siro Stadium.
In the 75th minute, Milan doubled the lead when French left back Theo Hernandez took the ball in his own half, dribbling nearly 70 meters (230 feet) before firing a low shot that evaded Atalanta goalkeeper Juan Musso.
The Rossoneri are the Serie A leaders with 83 points in 37 matches.
In the final fixture, Milan will visit Sassuolo next weekend.
Their nearest opponents and archrivals Inter Milan need to win against Cagliari on Sunday to go on the title race.
Inter currently have 78 points. Milan are now waiting for their mistake.
The 2021-22 Serie A season will end on May 22.
