ANKARA (AA) – AC Milan's French forward Olivier Giroud tested positive for the coronavirus on Thursday.
"AC Milan announces that today Olivier Giroud tested positive for a molecular swab carried out at home. The relevant local health authorities have been swiftly informed. The player is doing well but must remain in fiduciary isolation," Italian football club's statement read.
It added that 2018 FIFA World Cup champion Giroud, 34, had no contact with the team since last weekend's Italian Serie A match against Cagliari that AC Milan won 4-1.
Giroud left England's Chelsea to join AC Milan in July.
This season Giroud scored two goals in two Serie A appearances.
