Airstrike hits vehicle in Syria's Homs province, kills 1

Syrian air defense systems responded to 'hostile targets,' reports regime news agency

TAL ABYAD, Syria (AA) - An unidentified drone reportedly targeted a vehicle in Syria’s western Homs province, killing one person and injuring three others.

Local pro-regime social media accounts claimed the airstrike occurred at 2.55 p.m. local time (1155GMT) along the Homs-Hama highway.

SANA, the Syrian regime’s state news agency, reported that air defense systems responded to “hostile targets” in the western countryside of Homs.

Unidentified drones had also carried out airstrikes early Wednesday on positions used by Iranian-backed groups in eastern Homs, including the T4 Military Airbase.

Israel has not commented on the recent attacks.

Since 2011, Israel has periodically targeted Iranian-backed groups and Syrian military positions amid Syria’s ongoing civil war.
