ANKARA (AA) – The Dutch Eredivisie week 6 match between Ajax and Feyenoord will continue without spectators, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) announced on Monday.
"The basic principle is that the competition must be as fair as possible and that a match should therefore preferably be decided on the field," the KNVB's statement read.
Due to this decision, Ajax vs FC Volendam match, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, will be rescheduled, the statement added.
The remaining minutes of the match at Ajax home will be played behind closed doors, it added.
Feyenoord were 3-0 ahead at 55th minute of Sunday's abandoned game when the referee stopped the match after fireworks were thrown onto the field from the stands.
Feyenoord are in fourth place with 11 points, while Ajax lay at the 14th spot with five points in the league standings.
