ISTANBUL (AA) - Al-Ittihad FC claimed a 3-0 win over Auckland City FC on Tuesday in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
Romarinho broke the deadlock in the 29th minute, N'Golo Kante doubled the lead and Karim Benzema scored his team's third goal at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
With this result, Al-Ittihad advanced to the second round of the Club World Cup and will face African champions Al Ahly at the same venue on Friday.
The FIFA-organized annual international club competition will conclude with the final on Dec. 22.
Manchester City (UEFA Champions League winners), Fluminense (Copa Libertadores champions), Japanese club Urawa Reds (AFC Champions League winners) and Mexico's Club Leon (CONCACAF Champions League winners) are the other competitors in the 2023 Club World Cup.
