World no. 1 in men's tennis Carlos Alcaraz and women's 17th seed Madison Keys have both qualified for the 2023 US Open semifinals.
Spain's Alcaraz, who is the defending champion, on Wednesday beat no. 12 seed Alexander Zverev with 6-3, 6-2, and 6-4 sets at New York's Arthur Ashe Stadium.
In the next round, Alcaraz will face 2021 winner Daniil Medvedev. Russia's Medvedev beat his compatriot Andrey Rublev 6-4, 6-3, and 6-4 to make the semis.
In women's, Keys from the US, who was the 2017 runner-up, beat 2023 Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova from the Czech Republic with 6-1 and 6-4 sets to play against second seed Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, who won the Australian Open earlier this year.
The women's semifinals will be held Thursday, a day before the men's semis.
The US Open will end with the men's final on Sunday. The women's final will be played on Saturday.
