ALGIERS, Algeria (AA) - Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune received Mucahit Kucukyilmaz’s credentials Wednesday as Türkiye's new ambassador to Algiers.
A letter of credence ceremony was attended by Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, according to a statement by the Algerian presidency.
Ambassadors from France, Denmark and South Korea also handed their credential letters to Tebboune, it added.
A source in the Turkish Embassy told Anadolu that the ceremony included discussions about ways to develop "the dynamic relations" between Türkiye and Algeria.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan named Kucukyilmaz the new ambassador to Algeria on July 22.
Türkiye opened the embassy in 1963 after Algeria declared its independence from France in 1962.
Relations have gained impetus during the past years, and the two countries signed a Friendship and Cooperation Agreement in 2006.
