ISTANBUL (AA) - AlphaTauri has reached an agreement to extend French driver Pierre Gasly’s contract for two more years, the Formula 1 driver announced on Friday.
"I have been with this team for five years now and I am proud of the journey we’ve been through together and the progress we have made. I’m happy to remain with my Scuderia AlphaTauri team," the team said in a statement.
"This year’s new regulations have created new challenges for us and being able to plan our development with the team for the next 18 months is a good working basis for the future," the team added.
Gasly, who has a total of 325 points during his career, is in 11th place with 16 points from 9 races this season.
The 26-year-old French stood on the podium three times, including his maiden race victory at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix.
