ISTANBUL (AA) - US e-commerce giant Amazon said Monday it will invest up to $4 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) startup company Anthropic.
Anthropic selected Amazon Web Services as its primary cloud provider, as it will train and deploy its future models based on it that will be accessible to millions of developers, Amazon said in a statement.
Amazon developers and engineers, in addition, will be able to build with Anthropic models to incorporate generative AI capabilities into their work, enhance existing applications, and create new customer experiences across Amazon’s businesses, it added.
Amazon's move comes in an era where race in AI development has been intensified among tech majors such as Microsoft and Alphabet’s Google.
Founded in 2021, Anthropic’s model, Claude 2, scores above the 90th percentile on the GRE reading and writing exams, and similarly on quantitative reasoning, according to the statement.
"AI has the potential to fundamentally change how the world work," Anthropic says on its website, adding that its team of researchers includes engineers, policy experts and business leaders.
