Quincy Hall for the US won gold Wednesday in the men's 400 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Hall came from behind to pass eventual silver medalist Matthew Hudson-Smith from Britain and Muzala Samukonga from Zambia, who won bronze, and crossed the finish line in 43.40 seconds -- the fifth-fastest time all-time.
Hudson-Smith set a European record at 43.44. Samukonga broke a new national time of 43.74.
London 2012 champion, Kirani James of Grenada, finished fifth.
