By Ozgur Tiran

KIRKLARELI, Turkey (AA) - Anadolu Agency on the occasion of International Women's Day lauded the contribution of women to the Turkish society.

-Doctor Seyide Tetik

Tetik has been treating patients for eight years. She has been on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.

Tetik said her work gives her satisfaction but is demanding, especially during the pandemic.

"There were periods in which I was unable to go home for 10 days or see my child for two months. It is not easy to be a mother, a wife and a doctor simultaneously," she added.

-Teacher Demet Kahraman

Kahraman, the principal of a primary school in the northwestern province of Kirklareli, is fulfilling her duties.

"The more time I spend in this profession, the more I love children," she said.

Kahraman said women are the pillars of the society and make lasting contributions as strong individuals.

-Judge: Tugba Gunes

"I was summoned to the witness box in court when I was only 17. Since then, I wanted to be a judge," Gunes said.

She was appointed as judge in 2018. She said she believes women are more committed to whatever they set their heart to.

"As such, women should be more active in social and commercial life," she said.

-Livestock breeder Bedriye Altun

Altun, who hails from the Altunbas village of Kirklareli, starts her day very early.

"As we are used to such lifestyle, nothing related to work is too difficult for us. On the contrary, I like being a productive hardworker, and the village life in general," Altun said.

-Police officers Tugba Ozdil, Semra Asli and Oznur Izidogru

They, like many other working women in Turkey, successfully manage their professional and family lives.

They solve cases and manage the traffic.

And when they are back home after a tiring shift, they take care of their homes.

-Gendarmerie sergeants Halide Leman Kanli and Birgul Er

As part of provincial gendarmerie teams in Kirklareli, Kanli and Er participate in road controls and other law enforcement activities.
