ANKARA (AA) - Istanbul's Anadolu Efes beat city rivals Fenerbahce Beko 86-72 to win the 2022 Bitci Turkish Cup in basketball.
Anadolu Efes led the game 41-27 by the end of the second quarter.
The lead stayed its course in the third and fourth quarters as Anadolu Efes took command in the final at the Tofas Sports Hall in the northwestern province of Bursa.
Anadolu Efes was led by Serbian guard Vasilije Micic, who scored 23 points for the champions. He also produced six assists.
German center Tibor Pleiss was named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the final, after scoring 20 points and taking eight rebounds.
France's Adrien Moerman posted a double-double for Anadolu Efes.
The 33-year-old was one of the key players for the win, as he tallied 13 points and 16 rebounds in the final.
Rodrigue Beaubois added 19 points for Anadolu Efes, as well.
Fenerbahce Beko's top scorer was Devin Booker with 17 points.
Serbian forward-guard Marko Guduric scored 15 for Fenerbahce Beko.
Fenerbahce trio Markel Starks, Melih Mahmutoglu, and Jehyve Floyd scored 10 points each against Anadolu Efes.
Anadolu Efes won the local trophy for the 12th time in its history.
They previously claimed it in 2018.
Fenerbahce Beko were the 2020 Turkish Cup champions, almost a month before World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus declared COVID-19 a global pandemic on March 11, 2020.
The 2021 Turkish Cup had previously been canceled over the coronavirus outbreak.
